Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Testing for Mold – We Know Mold
At We Know Mold, we take mold detection seriously—because what you can’t see can still affect your health. Our Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) testing process uses Air-O-Cell sampling to accurately detect and quantify airborne mold spores in your home or business.
Whether you suspect hidden mold, need clearance after remediation, or want peace of mind before buying or selling a property, our certified inspectors are here to help.
What Are Air-O-Cells?
Air-O-Cells are industry-standard sampling cassettes designed to capture airborne particles—including mold spores, pollen, and other bioaerosols—for laboratory analysis. They’re highly effective for identifying:
- Hidden mold sources
- Elevated mold levels
- Cross-contamination from affected to unaffected areas
- Indoor vs. outdoor air quality comparisons
These samples are non-destructive, quick to collect, and provide valuable data to guide remediation or confirm a clean environment.
Our IAQ Testing Process Using Air-O-Cells
- Visual Inspection & Moisture Mapping
We begin with a thorough visual assessment and moisture detection using thermal cameras and moisture meters to identify suspect areas.
- Strategic Air Sample Placement
Our certified mold inspector places Air-O-Cell cassettes in:
- Affected indoor areas (e.g., near visible mold or musty smells)
- Unaffected “control” areas
- Outdoor reference location (for baseline comparison)
- Air Sampling Procedure
Each Air-O-Cell is attached to a calibrated air sampling pump that draws a controlled volume of air (typically 15–20 liters per minute for 5 minutes). This pulls airborne particles onto a sticky glass slide inside the cassette.
- Lab Analysis by Accredited Laboratory
The samples are sealed, labeled, and shipped to an AIHA-accredited laboratory, where a microbiologist analyzes the spore types, quantities, and concentrations under a microscope.
- Detailed Report & Interpretation
You’ll receive a full lab report within 2–3 business days, along with our expert interpretation, which includes:
- Spore types and concentrations
- Comparison to outdoor levels
- Risk assessment
- Recommendations for remediation, if needed
